From Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights to DC’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and Mark Jenkin’s Rose of Nevada, productions of all shapes and sizes are filming across England, outside of London. Browse high-end TV and feature films which are using England’ locations, studios and phenomenal crew-bases this year so far.

South West

Inheritance – Snowed-In Productions/Sky

Where? The Bottle Yard Studios, Bristol

A new thriller is on its way from writer Karla Crome (the mind behind Am I Being Unreasonable). Set between Bristol and Jamaica and starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Jonny Lee Miller Inheritance wrapped earlier in 2025 after filming in Bristol.

Rose of Nevada – Protagonist Pictures

Where? Cornwall

Mark Jenkin, director of Bait and Enys Men, is returning with Rose of Nevada. Staying true to its director’s Cornish roots, the feature film was shot entirely in Cornall and stars BAFTA nominees George MacKay and Callum Turner.

Dream Lands – BBC/Sister

Where? Bristol

An adaptation of Rosa Rankin-Gee’s novel Dreamland, this 6-part series is set in Margate in the near future and centres around a world crumbling due to climate change. It stars Pascale Kann, Anna Friel and Katherine Parkinson.

 

South East

Animol – Film4/Joi Productions

Where? Dover, Kent

Animol is a directorial debut from actor Ashley Walters, following a group of young offenders and staring Stephen Graham, Tut Nyuot and Vladyslav Baliuk.

Wife and Dog – Black Bear

Where? Surrey

Set in the world of British aristocracy, Guy Richie is back in the director’s seat with Wife and Dog, his latest film which stars Rosemund Pike, Anthony Hopkins and Benedict Cumberbatch.

East

Wuthering Heights – Warner Bros.

Where? Sky Studios Elstree, Hertfordshire

Did you know that Emerald Fennell’s next feature after Saltburn is an adaptation of Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights? Who’d have guessed! Starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, the film has been in production at Sky Studios Elstree in Hertfordshire.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow – DC/Warner Bros.

Where? Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden, Hertfordshire

Woman of Tomorrow will take us on Supergirl’s darker original journey, taking place before she arrived on earth. House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock will play Supergirl, with Jason Momoa and Matthias Schoenaerts on board too.

Untitled Alejandro G Iñárritu Film

Where? Pinewood Studios, Buckinghamshire

Starring Tom Cruise, Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde and Riz Ahmed, the latest project from Birdman director Alejandro G Iñárritu is in production in Pinewood Studios. Details of the project are under wraps so far.

  

Midlands

Murder Before Evensong – Channel 5

Where? West Midlands

Based on Reverend Richard Coles’ novel of the same name, Murder Before Evensong is a new murder mystery series commissioned by Channel 5. It stars Matthew Lewis and is funded by Creative UK’s West Midlands Production Fund!

North West

Brassic Series 7 – Sky/Calamity Films

Where? Greater Manchester, Liverpool and Lancashire

The final season of much-loved northern based comedy Brassic has been shooting this year, seeing the gang get together for the seventh series.

Anemone – Universal

Where? Chester

Directed by Ronan Day-Lewis, Anemone is an original feature film which will see Daniel Day-Lewis’ return to acting alongside Sean Bean and Samantha Morton.

Film Club – BBC/Gaumont

Where? Manchester

A new romantic comedy-drama its on its way from the team behind Narcos, Locked In and The Wives. Airing later this year on BBC iPlayer, Film Club stars Aimee Lou Wood and Ralph Davis.

Night And Day 

Where? Newcastle

An adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s Night and Day is on its way starring Timothy Spall, Jennifer Saunders and Haley Bennett. Filming is taking place in Newcastle with funding support from North East Screen.
