Location Toolkit

We are funded by the British Film Institute (BFI) to help promote filming outside of London. This means we work with film offices, local authorities and private location owners free of charge to help make their areas/locations as film friendly as possible. Our directory is free to list on and we take no commission if a production decides to use your location – we’re too good to be true!

Visit our registration page for the directory, there you can input all the key information we need and add images. Once you have completed all the sections and pressed submit, we will review and approve the record. For any reason we deem your submission not ready to go live on our directory, we will get in contact with yourself to give you some pointers to rectify the submission.

We do not get involved with fee negotiation, although we are more than happy to have a chat to see how we can assist with any potential snags in talks with the production.

Yes, we often visit locations. We have staff throughout the country who are able to travel – dependant on availability. If you are interested then please do get in touch at production@creativeengland.co.uk.

We recommend updating your record every 12 months or whenever there has been a significant alteration to the location. The new process is to submit a brand new record using our location submission form, there we can merge any new data with the existing record or just delete the existing record in favour of the new.
